About

About Dr. Emily

As a child psychologist, and former school psychologist, I have spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children, along with their parents and teachers, to build an understanding of how a child's developmental skills, relationships, and perception of safety intersect to create the ideal environment for their growth. After spending 5 years as a school psychologist and 14 years in private practice, in 2023 I shifted my focus to help parents support their neurodivergent children. If you are a former client and your child would like to work with me again, please send me an email to check my availability. More about me: I earned a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wanting to learn more about providing mental health services in schools, I completed an APA-accredited psychology internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas followed by post-doctoral training in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD where I provided evaluation, therapy, and consultation services in elementary, middle, and high schools. As a Raleigh native, my family returned home in 2010 and I worked for a group practice before opening my solo practice in 2012. I am a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider in NC specializing in therapy and consultation services for neurodivergent children and teens including those diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, giftedness, and/or learning disabilities. I earned a certification in DIR/Floortime in 2017 from Profectum which expanded my understanding of individual differences in play with young autistic children. ā€‹ I am passionate about helping parents connect with their children in order to cultivate loving and supportive interactions that are felt by both parent and child. My background in School Psychology has given me extensive experience conducting psycho-educational evaluations and consulting with teachers and school administrators, which helps me support parents as they navigate school services for their children.
